The National Association of Chambers of Commerce Industry, Mines, and Agriculture, has said that the unexpected devaluation of the naira, hyperinflation, and significant interest rates (35 – 40 per cent) imposed by commercial banks have tested their resolve and resilience.
NACCIMA disclosed this in a Christmas message signed by its President Dele Oye on Wednesday.
Oye described 2024 as a trying year for members of NACCIMA and all businesses.
“Despite the challenges we have faced as a nation and as entrepreneurs in recent years, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt greetings to every one of you. It has indeed been a particularly trying year for our members and all businesses.
“The unexpected devaluation of the naira, hyperinflation, and significant interest rates (35-40 per cent) imposed by commercial banks have tested our resolve and resilience,” he said.
Oye added that the ability of Nigerian businesses to adapt and thrive in adversity is a testament to the strength and determination that defines all investors and entrepreneurs in the Nigerian landscape.
“Yet I stand in awe of the entrepreneurial spirit so many of you have displayed. Your ability to adapt and thrive in adversity is a testament to the strength and determination that defines all investors and entrepreneurs in the Nigerian landscape,” he said.
He assured Nigerians that though he is winding down his tenure as the president of NACCIMA, the group is stronger than ever.
Oye assured Nigerians that NACCIMA’s commitment to enhancing the business landscape remains unwavering.
“As I wind down my presidency, I want to assure you that NACCIMA is stronger than ever, and we are well-positioned to advocate for a better business climate for your enterprises.
“Our commitment to enhancing the business landscape remains unwavering, and we will continue to work diligently on your behalf, ensuring that your needs and challenges are addressed,” he stated.
“This Christmas, as we celebrate and look forward to a new year, I urge you to continue conducting your businesses with integrity and ethics. Let us all work together as agents of positive change, contributing to the growth and development of our beloved Nigeria,” he concluded.
