Seamfix verifies 400 million identities in 17 years

Seamfix, a leading digital identity solutions provider, has announced that it has verified over 400 million identities across Africa in its 17 years of operation.

In a statement on Monday, Seamfix highlighted its significant role in transforming businesses and fostering digital innovation across the continent.

Founded in 2007 with less than N75,000 ($500), Seamfix has evolved into a major player in the identity management sector, delivering impactful solutions across various industries.

According to Seamfix, its journey began in 2008 with the launch of a fingerprint-based identity management system aimed at curbing exam malpractice in Nigerian universities.

By 2011, Seamfix had expanded its services to implement data collection solutions for staff audits and automate payroll systems across 12 Nigerian states.

In 2013, Seamfix partnered with the National Identity Management Commission to support Nigeria’s national identity enrollment efforts.

The company stated that it developed a Windows-based enrollment platform, which later evolved into a mobile version that enrolled over 50 million Nigerians by 2018 through a network of more than 8,000 centres nationwide.

Seamfix also highlighted that in 2015, it rolled out the Biosmart SIM registration suite for MTN Nigeria, completing implementation in just 10 days.

This project marked the fastest biometric SIM registration in the world, processing over 70 million registrations and transforming telecom subscriber onboarding in Africa.

According to Seamfix, the introduction of Seamfix Verify, an AI-powered identity verification platform, in 2019 marked another major milestone.

The company reported that the platform had since verified over 400 million identities for more than 1,000 businesses, including major clients such as UBA, FirstBank, and Interswitch.

Seamfix also played a crucial role in registering 40 million low-income Nigerians into the financial system through the SANEF program, in partnership with the Nigerian Inter-Bank Settlement System.

Reflecting on the company’s journey, the CEO of Seamfix, Chimezie Emewulu, stated, “The past 17 years have been a heartfelt commitment to empowering individuals through trusted digital identities.

“Each milestone not only marks growth for Seamfix but also signifies the lives transformed along the way. Our vision is clear: to create a future where everyone can access opportunities simply by proving who they are. I congratulate everyone who has worked on this vision with us and sincerely thank our customers and partners who continue to believe in us.”

Emewulu emphasised that Seamfix’s innovative solutions, from biometric SIM registrations to AI-powered identity verification are designed to enable trust in how people live, work, and learn.

The firm noted that it aimed to empower 10,000 organisations and positively impact over 1 billion lives by 2030.

“We believe that identity is a right and not a privilege. At Seamfix, technology is about more than just systems; it is about building trust and creating a world where individuals and businesses can flourish because they have access to the fundamental right of identity,” he noted.
