AHCN seeks partnership to bridge housing deficit

The Association of Housing Corporations of Nigeria has called for a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development to address the pressing housing challenges across the country.

This was stated by the President of AHCN, Eno Obonga, during a courtesy visit to the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, at the Ministry’s Headquarters in Abuja recently.

Obonga emphasised the importance of collaboration between the association and the ministry in creating sustainable solutions for the country’s housing deficit.

“Considering the myriads of challenges in the housing sector, partnerships, and increased collaboration are necessary as the association is desirous of participating fully in the Renewed Hope Housing Agenda of this administration,” he said.

He stressed that the housing sector faced numerous challenges, especially for low-income individuals, leading to a widening housing deficit and resulting social and economic issues.

“We are here to seek your partnership in our efforts to improve housing availability and affordability across the country.

“Our association is ready to contribute actively to the Renewed Hope Housing Agenda, and we believe that through collaboration, we can achieve remarkable progress,” Obonga emphasised.

Obonga also commended the minister’s efforts in reforming the housing sector over the past year, noting that those reforms had led to the commencement of several housing projects across the nation’s six geopolitical zones.

He expressed confidence that the partnership between AHCN and the ministry would further enhance those efforts, particularly in providing housing for low-income groups and addressing the ongoing housing deficit.

The AHCN reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the ministry to ensure the success of housing initiatives under the current administration.

The visit stressed the need for continuous engagement between government agencies and private sector stakeholders in tackling the multifaceted challenges in Nigeria’s housing sector.
