Mobile applications can solve problems in a variety of industries, including healthcare, travel, finance, manufacturing, and entertainment. They are becoming essential tools for achieving efficiency while carrying out certain tasks.

Some of the must-have apps to enhance your productivity are discussed below:

Google Play is one of the most popular mobile app vendors on the planet, offering 3,413,666 apps. On the Apple Store, there are millions of paid and free apps made by app developers, with over 1.8 million available.

Overall, these applications play crucial roles in improving the quality of life for individuals by providing convenience, access to information, efficiency, and various other benefits, a software developer, Ifeanyi Ojukwu, said in a note to The PUNCH.

According to Ojukwu, there are mobile applications he finds very instrumental, such as Google Maps, Binance for his trading, Quora, and others.

Google Map

He recounted that when he arrived in America, it wasn’t easy for him, and he needed to move around town.

Google Maps became his saviour, allowing him to travel without seeking directions from locals and helping him overcome language barriers.

Pocket

He said Pocket was another useful app for knowledge sharing, particularly with offline reading capabilities, especially while travelling alone to remote places.

Quora

Regarding Quora, Ojukwu emphasised its significance in learning new tricks and tips, as it provides the best insights in just 2 minutes on new concepts.

He also mentioned that Quora offers a forum to express his views and share knowledge, boasting the best answers to various questions.

Mindly

Furthermore, Ojukwu mentioned Mindly as an app for creating mind maps, stating that it saves a lot of time organising things and remembering information.

He highlighted its usefulness in both studies and work and mentioned that he uses the paid version for added features.

CloudSEK, a cybersecurity company, conducted research using its proprietary software and uncovered apps harbouring or previously harbouring malware.

They identified 193 apps in total, 43 of which remained active on the Google Play Store. These apps are capable of accessing server addresses, personal data, and files.

Sharing her experience, a writer, Aarti Chittala, said humans were increasingly relying on these digital tools for a myriad of purposes, profoundly impacting both their daily routines and professional endeavours.

Chittala recognised the versatility of mobile applications, acknowledging their ability to address challenges across various industries such as healthcare, travel, finance, manufacturing, and entertainment.

These applications weren’t just convenient additions to daily life; they held tangible value, simplifying tasks and enhancing productivity.

Among the plethora of apps available, Aarti has her favourites, particularly those designed to promote physical activity and well-being.

MyFitnessPal and MapMyRun

Chittala shared her enthusiasm for apps like MyFitnessPal and MapMyRun, which seamlessly integrate GPS technology to provide users with detailed maps of their workout routes.

These apps not only tracked progress but also offered motivational challenges to keep users engaged.

Moreover, Aarti appreciated the social aspects of these fitness apps, allowing users to share their achievements with friends and even access nutritional advice through features like food blogs.

In 2023, approximately 55.6 billion downloads were attributed to games, while 92.6 billion downloads were for various apps.

Google Play accounted for 113.2 billion downloads, whereas iOS contributed 34.9 billion downloads. Overall, there were 148.2 billion downloads of apps and games in 2023, marking a 3.9 per cent increase from the previous year.

LoseIt

She also found utility in apps like LoseIt, which facilitated easy tracking of daily food intake, helping users maintain healthy eating habits.

Even within the confines of home, Aarti found solace in mobile applications like the 7 Minute Workout app, which enabled her to engage in quick and effective exercise routines.

And of course, she could not overlook the ubiquitous utility of Google Maps, a staple for navigating the world around her.

Flo

A student, Bose Seun, ranked her most preferred apps in order of importance as follows: Flo, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, and Snapchat.

“Flo helps me keep track of my menstrual cycle. To be honest, sometimes I forget to keep track of myself. As time went by, I found it useful,” Seun said.

According to Seun, Linkdln has helped in building her network, while Snapchat enhances the multimedia posted on her social media handles.

“I find WhatsApp interesting. It has solved lots of communication barriers. I have an elder in Germany, and speaking with her has never been a barrier. It is like calling someone in the next town.”

Uber

A driver simply identified as Chiemeze said e-hailing applications from Bolt, Uber, and Google Maps rank as some of the best applications.

WhatsApp

He said, “You also have WhatsApp as well. I mean, I look at these apps from a different perspective. I look at it from a no-start perspective. There is no day that I don’t use these applications. They are what I use to bring food to the table.”
