Chinese realme unveils smartphone in Nigeria

Chinese smartphone manufacturer, realme, has launched the realme C61 in the Nigerian market, offering a blend of affordability, innovation, and advanced features aimed at redefining the budget smartphone segment.

At a recent media briefing in Lagos, the Head of Sales for realme, Olumide Kaka, emphasised the company’s commitment to bringing both performance and durability to the forefront with the C61.

He highlighted that the device’s high-tech features and sleek design were crafted to appeal to young, tech-savvy consumers.

“The realme C61 is designed to combine durability with style. It features damage resistance and waterproof capabilities, making it ideal for users with an active lifestyle,” Kaka said.

The realme C61 boasts a 6.7-inch Full-HD+ display, providing an immersive visual experience for gaming, media consumption, and multitasking.

Kaka further explained that the phone’s performance is powered by an octa-core processor, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB of internal storage, ensuring seamless operation even during demanding tasks like gaming and video streaming.

“The device allows users to easily switch between apps and store large amounts of data without sacrificing speed or efficiency,” he added.

The realme C61 also shines in the photography department, featuring a triple-lens camera system. This includes a 50MP primary sensor, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 2MP macro lens, which are enhanced by advanced AI algorithms, he stated.

According to Kaka, the AI system improves low-light photography, with the Night Mode feature ensuring sharp and vivid photos in various lighting conditions.

Kaka noted that the C61 was priced competitively in the Nigerian market and was poised to attract both local and regional consumers.

“We are excited to launch the realme C61 in Nigeria. It offers a perfect balance of functionality and style, with a superior display and an advanced camera system, making it an ideal choice in the budget smartphone category,” he stated.

Realme’s Nigeria Digital Marketing Lead, Adebari Yusuf, also shared insights on the device’s added value, saying that the realme C61 comes with a 12+12 month free warranty, ensuring worry-free ownership.

According to the latest data released by the Nigerian Communications Commission, the number of approved phones in the Nigerian market increased to 2,257 as of June 6, 2024
