Edo varsity graduates 169



Wellspring University in Benin, Edo State, celebrated the graduation of 169 students across first-degree, post-diploma, and master’s degree programs during its 12th convocation ceremony on Friday.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Ajayi, highlighted the significance of the event in the university’s mission to produce well-rounded, future-ready graduates equipped with intellectual knowledge, leadership skills, and entrepreneurial capabilities.

Of the graduates, 69 earned first degrees, while 100 received postgraduate diplomas and master’s degrees.

Ajayi emphasised that the graduates had been thoroughly prepared and certified as competent in their respective fields, noting their spiritual training aimed at promoting godliness and resilience in facing life’s challenges.

He detailed the academic achievements, stating, “Among the first-degree graduates, one earned first class honors, 30 received second class upper division, 27 achieved second class lower division, and eight falls into other categories.

In the postgraduate category, 54 earned postgraduate diplomas, 25 obtained Master of Business Administration degrees, and 30 received Master of Science degrees.”

The Vice-Chancellor also said that Orok George was the best-graduating student, achieving a CGPA of 4.60 in Business Management.

He noted that the best overall graduate last year was female, reflecting healthy academic competition between genders.

Ajayi reaffirmed the university’s commitment to enhancing its academic standards through updated curricula and a motivated faculty, stating, “We uphold a culture of excellence and high-quality teaching to instill higher-order skills in independence, critical thinking, and self-confidence.”

He also mentioned that graduates had participated in intensive entrepreneurial training and a special Graduate Finishing Programme, preparing them to create jobs rather than seek employment.

Chancellor, Pastor Ituah Ighodalo remarked that graduation signifies a new chapter for the graduates, urging them to take pride in their accomplishments and represent the Wellspring name honorably.

He added, “We pray that God opens doors of opportunity for you as you embark on your future endeavors. I encourage you to stay connected with your alma mater, and I trust that you will make us proud in the global community.”
