Imo radio presenter Nonsonkwa granted bail after 54 days in custody


The incarcerated Imo radio presenter, Chinonso Uba, aka Nonsonkwa, has been granted bail by a Federal High Court sitting in Owerri.

His bail application was granted by Justice C.U. Nnodim.

The radio presenter has spent 54 days in detention at the Imo State Correctional Service Centre, Owerri.

Nonsonkwa was arrested on October 20, 2024, reportedly on the orders of the State Government.

He was subsequently charges with cyberstalking, defamation of character, and other alleged offenses, prompting widespread discussions about his detention and the legal process.

Justice C.U. Nnodim granted him bail after extensive legal arguments by his defense team, led by Barrister Alex Williams.

Other lawyers in the team are Kissinger Ikeokwu, IBB Madubuko, Charles Mgbenkonye, and Ifeanyi Chukwuocha.

The lawyers have been commended for their diligent efforts in ensuring that the presenter’s rights were upheld throughout the proceedings.
