Konga, Starlink to bridge Nigeria’s digital gap

Nigeria’s leading e-commerce giant, Konga, has announced a partnership with Starlink to provide satellite internet services to underserved areas across the country.

This initiative, according to a statement on Monday, aims to bridge Nigeria’s digital divide by offering reliable, high-speed internet connectivity to individuals and businesses in areas with limited or no terrestrial internet coverage.

Konga, which is the only authorised shop-in-shop for Starlink in Nigeria, said the promotion was part of its ongoing commitment to provide cutting-edge satellite internet service to its customers.

The Chief Executive Officer of Konga, Nnamdi Ekeh, remarked, “At Konga, we are committed to empowering Nigerians by providing them with the tools and resources they need to thrive in the digital age.

“The Starlink Week at Konga is an opportunity for individuals and businesses to own a kit for themselves; it is also a testament to our unwavering dedication to delivering exceptional value and improving the lives of Nigerians.”

During the Starlink Week campaign, Konga disclosed that it would reduce the prices of Starlink kits and accessories to make them more affordable for customers and offer free nationwide delivery in major cities such as Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt.

Starlink, launched in January 2023, has swiftly become Nigeria’s third-largest internet service provider, boasting 23,897 subscribers by the end of 2023, according to data from the Nigeria Communications Commission.

To further enhance its services, Starlink is establishing additional ground stations in Lagos, Ogun, and Rivers States, aiming to improve connectivity and reduce latency, according to media reports.
