Konga, a leading e-commerce group, is set to launch Africa’s first AI-powered FM radio station in Lagos, scheduled for debut in January 2025.
The station, KongaFM, will blend technology, entertainment, and commerce to foster impactful connections across Nigeria and beyond.
This was confirmed in a statement released on Monday.
KongaFM is designed to help brands, distributors, and original equipment manufacturers engage with new markets, providing a platform to revolutionise commerce in real time.
The station promises a unique mix of continuous hit music alongside commercial opportunities, offering businesses a new avenue for product visibility and market penetration.
The Chief Executive Officer of Konga Group, Nnamdi Ekeh, remained tight-lipped, stating that “full details and official announcements will be made in January 2025.”
“The anticipation around this launch continues to grow as industry experts and media enthusiasts eagerly await what is already being hailed as the next major evolution in Africa’s media and commerce space.
According to the company, the station will offer businesses a new channel for product visibility and market penetration while delivering continuous hit music to create a unique mix of entertainment and commercial opportunities.
“Equipped with advanced broadcasting technology and staffed by a dynamic blend of seasoned professionals and youthful talent, KongaFM will begin test transmissions in the second week of January 2025.”
This latest media venture is part of Konga’s broader strategy to disrupt traditional marketing communications and increase consumer engagement across various sectors, including FMCG, electronics, and digital solutions.
Konga expects the launch to have a significant impact on Nigeria’s foreign exchange market, potentially influencing the pricing and availability of key goods and commodities.
