The Zamfara State chapter of the Jama’atu Izalatil Bidi’ah Wa IQamatis- Sunnah, JIBWIS, has accused the spokesman of the State Governor, Suleiman Bala Idris, of defending the people behind the murder of an Islamic scholar, Shiekh Abubakar Hassan Mada.
In a statement issued by the Zamfara State Chairman of JIBWIS, Alhaji Aliyu Na-Allah Zurmi, the group confirmed the statement made by the Commandant of Community Protection Guard, CPG, Col. Yandoto, acknowledging the involvement of his men in the murder of Shiekh Abubakar Hassan Mada.
“We call on Sulaiman Idris Bala to withdraw his statement of defending the culprits,” the statement added.
“The Zamfara State JIBWIS expresses deep sorrow and condemns the brutal murder of our esteemed Chairman of the JIBWIS Ulama Council, Gusau Local Government, Sheikh Abubakar Hassan Mada.
“The incident occurred in Mada town, Gusau Local Government Area, on Tuesday, 5th March 2024, at around 4 pm.”
According to the statement, the state leadership of JIBWIS joined other mourners to attend the funeral prayers led by Sheikh Abdullahi Salisu Aleru.
“Despite the grief, JIBWIS urges its members to refrain from taking the law into their own hands, emphasizing a commitment to legal actions to expose and prosecute the assailants.
“Eyewitnesses in Mada town identified some members of Zamfara State’s Community Protection Guards (CPG) as the culprits, contradicting the official statement from the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris Bala.
“JIBWIS confirms the statement made by the CPG Commander, Col Yandoto (rtd), acknowledging the involvement of his men in the tragic incident.
“We call on Sulaiman Idris Bala to withdraw his statement of defending the culprits, and we caution against encroaching on the responsibilities of trained professionals.
“As an Islamic organization, we remind the spokesperson of the State Governor to fear Allah and speak the truth, as he will be held accountable in the hereafter.
“The leadership of the JIBWIS while condemning the statement urged the said spokesperson to stop encroaching into other peoples duty and be wary of delicate issues of this nature.
“JIBWIS emphasizes its commitment to ensuring justice is served and therefore appeals to the public not to resort to vigilantism. We extend heartfelt condolences to the family of Sheikh Abubakar Hassan Mada, praying for his soul’s eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus.
“JIBWIS Zamfara State urges the authorities to expedite the investigation, expose the perpetrators, and ensure justice prevails,” the statement added.
