New book offers guide to purposeful living

A new book, titled, ‘Living the Life of Light,’ authored by founder of the Great Commission Christian Network, Evangelist Andy Ikekhide, provides a compelling guide on how individuals can shine brightly in all their endeavors.

The book, dedicated alongside a musical album at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Continent 3 Headquarters, Gowon Estate, Lagos, was distributed free to attendees during the event.

Evangelist Ikekhide challenged the audience to be shining lights in their respective spheres and to live purposeful lives.

He also recounted how he received the inspiration to write the book.

“Living an impactful life is living the life of light. I had a revelation to write this book, ‘Living the Life of Light,’  and shared it with Dr. Linus, who encouraged me to make it happen,” Ikekhide said.

He explained the importance of taking action to realise one’s vision. “Vision without action leads to frustration. If you don’t match your vision with the corresponding energy and take the first step, it remains unfulfilled. Procrastination robs you of so much. Begin by taking the first step, don’t sleep on your vision. Visions are meant to be realised. Take the step of faith, and you will see it manifest,” he urged.

The event, which commenced with a Minister’s Revival Fire Conference, also marked a dual celebration of the author’s birthday and wedding anniversary.

Dr Linus Okorie, who wrote the foreword to the book, provided a brief review, praising its profound insights.

He described the book as “a powerful guide to living a life of light, purpose, and essence.”

He added, “It delves into the value of light, the essence of life, your identity, the value of integrity, and the purpose of light itself. The book serves as a roadmap for aligning one’s life with God’s glory.

“It is rich in scriptural depth and begins with a profound truth, living a life of light is fulfilling the divine purpose for which we are created. The author shows us that any light not shining is no different from darkness. This book teaches us to be shining lights, living not just as individuals but as messages to our generation.

“By living a life of light, we become beacons of hope, purpose, and divine glory. Let us strive to be a message of inspiration to the world around us,” he said.

During the Minister’s Revival Fire Conference, Bishop David Abioye and Pastor J.T. Kalejaiye were keynote speakers.

In his address, Bishop Abioye urged ministers to remain steadfast in loading themselves with the Word of God, prayers, and holiness. “Keep immersing yourself in the Word. Many preachers and evangelists have grown lazy with the Word. Take the Word away from the altar, and nothing else remains. Jesus, from being a lay reader, became a great preacher. Paul was a bookworm, and from there, the fire burned within him.

“If you are lazy, you will be laid off from ministry. Today, we no longer have travailers; Christians pray in powerless tongues. Your level of travail determines the speed at which the fire will come down. When your prayers are weak, your answers will be slow. Let’s move from fun to fanning the fire.

“We should sanctify ourselves from unholy things and stay committed to keeping the fire burning,” he emphasised.

Kalejaiye urged Christians to combine prayer with practical action in their pursuit of leadership roles and societal impact.

He emphasised the need for preparation, strategic thinking, and active participation in various societal institutions to drive meaningful change.

The cleric prayed for Ikekhide and extended admiration to the wife, praising her contributions and the grace of God upon her life.

“And I pray that you will live longer, in the mighty name of Jesus. I want to celebrate and appreciate the grace of God upon our evangelist and his wife. God bless you,” he said.

The cleric highlighted the importance of staying informed and adaptable in a rapidly changing world.

“If you are not current, you will not be relevant. Some of us expect God to give us fruits, but God gives seeds. It’s up to us to work with the seeds,” he remarked, encouraging attendees to take initiative rather than waiting for divine intervention for every aspect of their lives,” he added.
