NIGCOMSAT, Wootlab sign deal to support education

Nigeria Communications Satellite Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Digital Wootlab Nigeria, a non-profit organisation, to improve education for out-of-school children and youth across Africa.

The partnership, according to a Monday statement, aimed to leverage technology to provide inclusive and quality education, promoting sustainable development with a focus on employability and technology-driven economic growth.

Representing NIGCOMSAT at the signing were the Executive Director, Technical Services, Engr Abiodun Attah, and company secretary, Kingsley Udevbure, while Mr David Naitri and Sumayya Sabo represented Wootlab.

This collaboration is expected to enhance education and skills development for marginalised communities, bridging the gap in access to quality education and empowering young people with digital skills.

The Managing Director of NIGCOMSAT, Jane Egerton-Idehen, stated that the move was expected to bridge the gap in access to quality education and empower young people with digital skills.

“This partnership is fully aligned with our mission to promote sustainable development, with a focus on employability and technology-driven economic growth,” Egerton-Idehen noted.

The Federal Government is planning to launch a new satellite, NigComSat-2, as part of efforts to harness its broad applications and drive growth in vital sectors of the economy.

According to Egerton-Idehen, the NigComSat-2 satellite is expected to substantially augment the company’s ability to provide fast and reliable communication services across Nigeria and beyond.

The NigComSat MD said that the satellite would facilitate a broad range of applications, including high-speed internet, remote healthcare services, and digital learning platforms.

Egerton-Idehen further stated that the satellite would enable NIGCOMSAT to more effectively cater to vital sectors, thereby, driving economic growth and enhancing the overall quality of life for Nigerians.
